A story for a sequel/remake

Freddy Benson/Steve Martin, takes over where Lawrence Jamieson/Michael Caine was in the last movie. He has his own town in the South of France all sown up. Doing the same role as Caine was in the first movie.

Martin has lead the scoundrel lifestyle, but met some unfortunate people along the way, and uses the town to lay low, but live large.

It is revealed that Janet Colgate/Glenne Headly grifted with them for a time before betraying them both for a second time and taking all the money.

This time a new Jackal enters town, a woman, Martin sees a chance for easy money, and an attempt to get back at Headly.

A similar tale follows of training/deception/cross and double-cross. Caine comes back to save Martin at the end of the movie, and bring a truce of the two and the new girl, then they play the big con on Headly, recover their money, and dump the new girl like dirty, rotten, scoundrels.
