The roulette scene with Janet

The "Jackal" claims to have made 3 million last year...no small amount. One thing that I noticed was this...in the scene where they are playing roulette, Michael Caine places a bet and wins. In a very funny sequence this happens 2 more times with each subsequent "all in" bet. It is playing against the fact that he normally loses and draws attention to himself so that he can the play his con. Well, assuming it is a standard roulette table (35-to-1) and the initial bet is $100...3 straight inside bet wins on a $100 dollar bet and the bettor laying all his winnings back on the table would yield 100 * 35 * 35 * 35 = 4.2 million. Strange that he would even care about Miss Colgate after this kind of payday. He could have given half to Steve Martin and that would have been that....just saying.

Hmm.

Wonderful, but forgettable. It sounds like a film I've seen. I probably wrote it.

They were playing with french francs. Later when Janet gives the chips to Freddy he says "10,000 francs that is like 2000 dollars). So his 4.2 Million win would more likely be worth around $800,000 - but yeah, it's still a nice pay day.

TBH there would be very few casino's that would allow you to wager that high on a single number - most would have betting limits unless you were in a special high rollers section.
