Marquise de Merteuil after the film's ending?

Does De Laclos' novel detail what happened to De Merteuil's life after the film ends?

If not, most likely she either lived into old age, an outcast and embittered recluse, or committed suicide?

Yes he does. Madame de Merteuil after all this loses a trial cause no one still trust her ; she turns into sick by pox and loses her beauty as well. Finally she runs very far away -in Holland one says, but it's a sort of legend, no one really knows where she dies out.
