Am I the only one who thinks the title is just so...boring? Doesn't live up to the film. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought it was the name of a documentary about immigrants or guidebook for tourists. The movie is so fun and fantastic and I'm sure they could have come up with other ideas for a title.

shareDown in Berlin in 1988, there's a movie theater right across from Kudamm (the downtown area)...at least there was...and I remember a big poster advertising this film. Weirdly, this poster did call the film "Coming to America", but I know that the title was different in Germany. I guess they just used the American Poster.

In South/Central America is "Un príncipe en Nueva York" ("A prince in New York"). As madmu says, a bit more attractive than "Coming to America"... just a little bit

I think you are the only one. I think the title works. It has to do with someone "Coming to America" to find a bride. What title would you have used, if you had been the Paramount Studio head?

I think that is a good title.
Someone also said "The prince of Queens" - it would be a EVEN BETTER title because of the words Prince and Queens in the same title, Queens referring not only to the place in New York but also to the fact that he is looking for a future queen.
It would be a awesome title: "THE PRINCE OF QUEENS".
Too bad they didn't think of a better title for such a funny flick.

It's like the title "The Dark Knight". When we first heard it, most of us got disappointed since it didn't have the word 'Batman' in it. But seriously though, it is pretty much a perfect title for a perfect movie, since the Dark Knight refers to both Batman and to Harvey Dent.
