Won for 'Worst Film' at the Razzies!

This is a very entertaining flick, sure its not very intellectually stimulating or life changing, but damn, this is pure nostalgic gold. I can't understand the amount of criticism it faced when first released? I think it holds up better than alot of other films from the 80's. The love story works and Bryan Brown's one-liners still make me laugh.

i agree, cocktail beats the *beep* out of top gun and im sure 1988 spawned some films that are a lot worse

Despite of that, this film is listed among The 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made in Golden Raspberry Award founder John Wilson's book THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE® MOVIE GUIDE.

To OP.

Well deserved. I'm glad it won the razzie and that is rightfully spat at 20 years later.

What a prick.

I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong.

You know I am right though Buck, and you're out of luck.

agree, this was the 1980s in a nutshell. Watching again, I just cringe. Really terrible, what's even worse is that it was a well recieved and liked movie at the time. Prime example of how completely *beep* the culture of the 1980's was, the only bright spot is Elisabeth Shue. This is why "American Psycho" is one of the best films of the past 25 years.

Agreed.... it's been aired as part of Film4's "Guilty Pleasures" nights quite frequently.

There are movies that should be enjoyed at and this movie is one of them. LOL
