Why was Jordan's father so against Brian marrying her?
Seriously, why was Jordan's father so full of rage and interfering with Jordan's decision to love and marry Brian Flannagan?

Or maybe it's because he loves his daughter and correctly sees Brian as an irresponsible tomcat who knocked her up during an extended one-night stand and then moved on to another chick.
Brian's not exactly a catch. You know, he's Levi Johnston.

But then you know in the end, where after the fight with the hotel doorman Jordan's father then says to both Brian and his daughter "You're on your own", does that mean that he NO LONGER loves and cares for his daughter and that he forever remains disappointed in her and refusing to wish her well, for she chose to go with Brian despite her father's huge disapproval of that?
Or maybe with time, he learns to understand and forgive both Brian and Jordan and remain very happy for both of them and their children?
Do you think that later for their wedding, Jordan's dad arrived and was happy for them completely? And has Jordan forgiven her father as well?
What do you think?
P.S. After punching Brian in the face, when that hotel doorman grabbed Jordan just before getting knocked out by Brian, what was he planning to do with her? It kind of looked like he intended to beat her up, anyone know?

Granted, Jordan's dad is a jerk. The screenplay has to make him a one-dimensional tyrant so that we have a bad guy to root against.
That said, pretend you're Jordan's dad. Your daughter flies off to the Caribbean for a little vacation and comes home pregnant. She explains that she hooked up with this nice guy, had sex with him without really getting to know him but felt like he was a good guy, but then found out he had moved on and had sex with another woman as part of a game he was playing with his friend. This is what your daughter tells you. Now the tomcat shows up at your apartment. Is it your instinct to say, "Well, now, maybe he's not so bad?"
Again, Brian in this movie is basically Levi Johnston. If the characters in this movie continued their lives, Brian and Jordan wouldn't stay married two years. They're irresposible and immature, and he's an egotistical bartender who has the hots for every cute girl who blinks her eyes at him. I don't see anything at all that suggests that he truly will "never get spooked again."
Meanwhile, funny thing, I keep comparing Brian to Levi Johnston, but the truth is, Jordan is quite a bit like Bristol Palin - a child of privilege, maybe bright enough, but emotionally immature and living in this fairy tale world, someone who believes it 100 percent every time a guy she likes says what she wants to hear.
"Cocktail" predicted Levi and Bristol, right down to the unwanted pregnancy.
Well you know how much this slapped fish face butt hole thought his daughter was worth 10 thousand lousy dollars, mind you ,he must of been a control freak as all she done was painting...hade't sold one and go on holidays with daddy's cash..not exactley au par en excellence in keeping with a rich persons ambition.she just didn't look like a painter anyway...always looked too clean.
shareCome on! The guy cheated on Jordan for a measly bet. Forget whether or not the dad is a jerk, ask why she took him back. Okay, so the movie ends with him being a wiser guy in the best sense, but in reality a man or woman that cheats that early in a relationship is BAD NEWS!!!!
sharethe doorman young flanagan slugs is much too small for that type of building in new york. in reality he would have been dropped on his head on the sidewalk.
Season's Greetings
He didn't "decide that his daughter was worth $10,000." He figured Brian was bad for her (probably right), wanted him to go away, and estimated how much it would take to make this ambitious but poor young man walk away. That has everything to do with his image of Brian, and nothing to do with his image of his daughter. He believes that his daughter, while bright, is immature and naive, and he is correct.
Well for one, Brian hurt his daughter. And two, it sounded like Jordans father was a rich snob. He said something about him not wanting his daughter to marry him because he worked at a bar. I think he said something like that. Either way, I think he thought that their status were too good for brian.
