Bad Movie, but a whole lot of fun.
I want to give this movie more than a 5/10, but the plot is way too cheesy for even a 6. A young Gina Gershon + young Elizabeth Shue brings it up to 2. The next 2 points are for the great screen chemistry between Brian Brown and Tom Cruise. The soundtrack is great 1980s pop, topped by Kokomo, which is one of the most memorable Beach Boys Songs for those who weren't alive in the 1960s.
Unfortunately the plot of the film is beyond dull, and the great acting performances can't overcome the shortcomings of the script. Unfortunately, many consider this to be one of Cruise's worst films. I wouldn't call it one of his best for sure, but I enjoyed it a whole lot more than Mission Impossible 3. I would venture to say that I liked Brown and Cruise together more than the latter with Dustin Hoffman or Paul Newman (as much as I like those last two actors).
This was a true guilty pleasure.
