I did like it though that when Dr. Meddows ordered one of his soldiers to shoot Brian, the deputy immediately switched from aiming at Brian to aiming at the soldier and telling him to put down his weapon. He might not like Brian, and think he's just another juvenile delinquent who'll never amount to anything, but he's not going to let him be gunned down in cold blood. It also showed he had sense enough not to completely discount Brian's story, especially in light of what he'd already seen, and was starting to figure out that Meddows and his team maybe weren't the good guys.
