Why kill the sheriff and not the deputy?
I'm kinda surprised at their choice to kill off the sheriff played by Jeffrey DeMunn (known for having appeared in all of Frank Darabont's directed movies and this one which Darabont co-wrote) and instead keep the deputy alive who from the beginning came of as kind of a prick. They could have easily reversed their roles in the death and kept the sheriff alive who came off as more of a leard character in the beginning. It's kinda trivial and not really a big deal but just kind of surprised me I guess. I think they were aiming to kind of surprise people with some of the deaths, like Paul and the little boy. Any thoughts?
