Blown away by the practical effects they used

The Paul death was phenomenal. After watching this film again after many years passing since the last time I watched it that has to be one of the best practical effects scenes I have ever seen

I like the special effects when the kid gets it. I love that because now a days you'd have the pc crowd that pretends that if a Monster was attacking people that a kid wouldn't have a painful death. The pc crowd now a days is obnoxious and is one of the reasons I miss the 80's.

I don't know if you are familiar with Grand Theft Auto but in GTAIII they originally had school buses and you can't harm children in many other video games. I was surprised to see the kid get blown away in Funny games. It kinda pulls you from the experience to see that children go unharmed in crazy circumstances.

I agree, donut. This is maybe my favourite creature feature from the 80s, not least because the effects are so well done.

Another amazing scene, I reckon, is when Fran from the diner is trapped in the phone booth; the shot of the Sheriff, and then when the booth implodes on her, are both brilliantly realised.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Yeah that was a great scene, but I was also kinda bummed because I really liked Fran and the sheriff and was hoping they'd live longer than they did.

Yes indeed, those effects were amazing.

Yeah all the effects are fantastic in the first 2/3 of the movie or so I was really impressed by them particularly pauls death, the kill in the car, and the guy in the sink

Most agree, his death was just outstanding.

Yes! I was just showing the death scenes to someone yesterday and describing how amazing the practical effects are. These scenes are so beautiful and well timed. I put them up there with the "An American Werewolf in London" transformation scene. I really wish this lost art would return full force!
