the scenes with Gene Hackman and Gena Rowlands towards the end? Is that gymnopedie? It's so beautiful and I've definitely heard it before.

Yes it is...
you might heard it in Man on the Wire.

Also its used in several commercials. The piece is considered the very first ambient music and influence on genre.
