...because Ken cheated on his wife with her, she has no reason to expect him to be faithful to her? Why is she at all surprised that he cheated again on her?

Because the source material was written by a man. There's a lot about this film that is not a believable.

Because Marion has been seeing & living her life through a facade of cerebral perfection & emotional self-deception, and only now is coming face to face with it.
