Total Evangelion Rip-Off
This movie is such an Evangelion rip-off it isn't even funny.
shareI don't know which part of this to correct first.
The Angels Have the Phone Box
(biggest facepalm of life)
"Hey you smokin Mother Nature, this is a bust!"-The Who
"The Legend will Never Die!"-Soul Calibur
Counting the manga, Akira predates Neon Genesis Evangelion by 13 years.

True, but you have to take into consideration that Katsuhiro Ohtomo is a time traveller.

...What part of "Akira predates Neon Genesis Evangelion by 13 years" didn't you understand?
The Angels Have the Phone Box
I didn't get the "predates" part until I saw it as pre-dates... but then again, English is not my native language, so there.
And even I admit the OP looks just like a troll, I just saw the movie yesterday and I could help but think "This reminds me of Evangelion somehow".
Then I gave it a second thought, and it ended up reminding me of Princess Mononoke too... it must be the whole creature-grows-so-gigantic-it-transcends-human-comprehension theme. Is that common to any other japanese animation films? Which ones? I'd be really interested to know. (And if it is... why so?)
Go back to your troll hole tobyrclark, the Evangelion connection is there and all to see. As the above poster pointed out. Trying to dispel the evidence won't work for an anime fan like me who knows his stuff.
shareWhat, so I'm a troll because I've fact-checked it enough to know which came first?? I'm not saying there's no connection, I'm saying calling the earlier one a ripoff of the later one is a very fast way to destroy any credibility you might have had.
The Angels Have the Phone Box
Akira came before neon genesis. don't be a moron.
share...an anime fan, who doesn't know enough about the history of anime to know that Akira came out first? By nearly a decade? If anything, Evangelion would have gotten inspiration from this flick.
Zagreus waits at the end of the world, For Zagreus is the end of the world.
Agreed. I can't believe how they got away with such a shameless ripoff. Especially the ending is taken straight from the End of Evangelion.

You're either a bad troll or a total idiot.
...Perhaps both.
