The Music ?

Even if you didn't like the movie could you agree on the Music being absolutely outstanding ? It's so bizzarre and unusual but it works so well, at times it's exhilarating (opening theme), then totally haunting ( doll scene)

I honesty think the music is the most memorable aspect of the film it really stands out. What genre would you call it tho, i've always wondered that ?

"The stuff that dreams are made of."

Geinoh Yamashirogumi are a category unto themselves. Have you checked out any of their other stuff? Ecophony Rinne is another album along the same lines.

It's one of my most listened to CDs.

Yeah, it's the movie strongest asset, and that is sayiung a lot.

It's a good soundtrack. Surprisingly sparse, atonal, and avante-garde, it's certainly not the kind of music you'd hear in an american animated film of the same era. It might be said that one of the reasons it still LOOKS good today is because it still SOUNDS so good today.

The avant-garde soundtrack is inspired. They easily could have gone for an 80s 'futuristic' electronic soundtrack -- or even worse, a rock soundtrack -- but the beauty of the unclassifiable and unusual avant-garde music helps make the film timeless.
