Who do you think Kevin Arnold married?

In the season finale Kevin says ""It was the last July I ever spent in that town. The next year, after graduation, I was on my way....Winnie left the next summer to study Art History in Paris. Still, we never forgot our promises. We wrote to each other every week for the next 8 years. I was there to meet her when she came home, with my wife and my first son - 8 months old."

I never recalled him naming his wife. Who do you think it was? A character from the show? I think his best match was his science partner, Linda Sloane. They were perfect for each other.

Let's take a run down of his interests:

Linda Carr she's a manipulative stoner with dead eyes who's got the personality of a mossy potato. Kevin ended up puking on her and I can't blame him.

Alice Pedermeir, she cries hysterically in seconds, blatantly lies to get what she wants, causes so much unnecessary drama, she's a sociopath. Plus she throws herself at Kevin, knowing full well he was going out with Winnie Cooper.

The other Cindy, she was pretty but Kevin cancelled his Friday night date with her, making up an elaborate lie about his grandmother's liver disease just to hang out with his friends.

Lisa Berlini, she dropped Kevin to go to a dance with someone else after she already told Kevin she would.

Inga Finnstrom, she's not bright. And not his type.

Susan Fisher, Southern accent that could melt a heart, blonde hair, gorgeous eyes, unfortunately that's all she had. Kevin made the mistake of focusing all his attention on Susan, completely ignoring the affections of his lab partner Linda Sloane. He lost both at the school dance.

Jessica Thomas and Kevin Arnold had so much potential it hurts. You could just see the sexual tension between the two. Jessica had agreed to go out with Kevin, but he didn't have a license or a car to be able to pick her up, so that pretty much put an end to their love affair.

Sandy Tyler and Kevin were great together. There was lots of passion, lots of making out, only problem was, she was dating Wayne.

Julie Aidem, Kevin broke up with her in front of her family and all her father could do was look at him like, "RUN!"

Debbie Pfeiffer, she was president of Kevin's fanclub if he had one. Debbie had charm. Who knew if she would grow up and marry Kevin. Who really knew?

Denise the Grease, Denise used Kevin as a shoulder to cry on and talk about poetry with, which does not go over well with her boyfriend. Denise makes out with Kevin, so what does Kevin do? He helps Frank get back together with Denise. Talk about a missed opportunity.

Becky Slater, She kicks your ass. If Winnie Cooper had been out of the picture, these two could've made a great couple.

Teri, perfect summer fling.

Winnie Cooper is the worst. She's the WORST girlfriend ever! She cheats on Kevin TWICE, has a hissy-fit over a piece of jewelry, and gets extremely jealous because a waitresss puts some extra relish on the side for Kevin. Oh, and she's also the queen of mixed signals, not to mention a pretty big tease and a slut. Still don't understand why Kevin had a thing for her as long as he did. It's still a mystery.

Maragret Farquhar, sure she rocked three ponytails and had a bat named Mortimer. She was weird. But once you got to know her, she was actually really smart and interesting. Kevin learned to like her, but the pressures of seventh grade superficiality got to him and he broke her heart, she ended up marrying someone and having 6 kids with them.

Cara, she smoked cigarettes, hung out on the back of the pickup truck with her brother, and hung out at the drive in movie. Kevin met her on a family summer trip to the lake. He returned months later to track her down and relive their summer love, but by then, she had moved onto someone else. While Teri was a great summer fling, Cara was a fling of a lifetime.

Madeline Adams, Kevin should have dumped Winnie and drove off into the sunset with this elegant, French speaking masterpiece of a girl. Even after Winnie dumps Kevin for some other dude, Madeline practically throws herself at Kevin, but the idiot doesn't reciprocate.

Linda Sloane, I'm convinced that Linda Sloane was Kevin's soulmate and his greatest missed opportunity. More than looks, this girl had the greatest personality of ANY character in the show, Kevin included. She was smart, sassy, and had perfect comic timing and wit. But Kevin, the idiot that he is, spent all of his time ogling Susan who had ZERO personality. Linda asked Kevin to the school dance and he still doesn't get the hint. If Kevin sang out of tune, she would NOT stand up and walk out on him.

What do you guys think? Who do you think Kevin married?

I think it's assumed that he married somebody who was never on the show but it's still an interesting question to ponder.

Maybe it's crazy but I've wondered if this show might have been an inspiration for How I Met Your Mother. People have wondered the question you asked for years and the people who created HIMYM may have realized that it could be premise of a show.

I've thought of this many times, actually. They left you guessing in the final episode, but I always wondered if he did marry someone from the show. How cool would it have been if they named her in the last episode? Life is ironic so the one who we'd least expect Kevin to marry is probably who he ended up marrying. So I say Becky! They got a long there for a short while. ;) And wasn't Crystal McKellar originally supposed to be Winnie on the show?
I totally agree Linda Sloane was THE ONE for Kevin. She was adorable, smart, tough, had a lot in common with Kevin and would kick his @$$ if he got out of line and let's be honest, that is definitely what Kevin needed most of the time...a swift kick! The young Kevin was immature like most kids his age, but as the adult narrator he realized his mistakes. All I can say is Kevin must've married an incredible woman because he wised up as he got older.

I know as FairyQueen said this question has been pondered many times, and she also mentioned that it may not be anyone from the show. Which is part of the wonder. It could be possible that it was no one from the show. But it could also be possible that he went to college with Linda Sloane or someone else from the show. They grew up, which is what they all needed to do, and ended up realizing their mistakes and giving it a second try. I'm happy that he didn't end up with Winnie.
I mean I can understand her playing with Kevin's heart when her brother died and when her parents were divorced. And I know Kevin was no angel when they were together either, but she cheated on him. I'm sure somewhere in the show (which I don't recall at this moment) they were together and Kevin cheated on her one summer. BUt I don't recall them being together for a summer until the end.
And honestly, Kevin's an idiot. I mean after he calls her a tramp, which is long awaited, he makes up with her and they stay together until the following summer? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
It could just be, to add to the wonder, that he got someone pregnant and they just married and stuck it out, because in those days, that's kind of what they did.
It left so much to ponder in the last episode.
I'm kind of disappointed in the last episode in a way. Whatever happened to Paul? We know we went and studied law. But it was never said if he married.
Whatever happened to Wayne? The same thing, he took over the furniture business, but did he ever marry?
And I know the timeline of the old man's death. But Jack didn't look that old, so my guess is he died pretty young. But it was never said what caused it. And if he was older than 60, he looked damn good. He got some amazing genes if that was the case.
And what about Norma? What happened to her after Jack's death? She's a grandmother to a total of three grandchildren. (In the earlier episodes Kevin said "his kids" and "boys" so he had at least 2 boys). Did she just disappear?
Even though I thought the show was great. Better now than I did growing up (I hated it growing up. Probably because I could relate all too well and now I can't because I've grown up), it left too much to ponder. But I guess that's how they wanted it.

I would have to say that he married someone he met in college, instead of one of the girls from the series. Mostly because a girl who came along after Winnie had left wouldn't feel as threatened by her as a girl who knew them when they were still dating.

While I agree that of all those girls he was friends with, or went out with, Linda was the best match, even she wouldn't approve of him writing to Winnie once a week for the next several years. A girl he met in college would be more likely to accept that Winnie was a childhood friend from the past, rather than a longtime obsession.

reply

Becky Slater maybe? Who knows.

reply

Madeline if he knows what's good for him!

Who knows, it could've been any one of his childhood sweethearts, or perhaps someone we never met. But it doesn't matter really, because I get the feeling that his wife would be his second favorite girl.

You want something corny? You got it!

Whoever he married, she was either in the dark of Kevin writing to Winnie every week from 1974-1982 or she had the patience of a saint!

Not many women would put up with their boyfriend/fiancé/husband/father of their child writing to the same woman/ex girlfriend from high school for 8 years!

Not only that, but went with him to meet her upon her return home!

I would definitely say it was someone Kevin met either in college or sometime after the events of the show had taken place.

Madeline. I mean come on Kevin.

If kevin arnold married anybody it would not be anybody from the show not becky because of what he did to her in the past like rejecting her for winnie, kevin most likely met a girl from college kevins life did not end after getting dumped by winnie after season 6

who do i think he married? or should he have married?

when older kevin narrates what happen, he's exactly that, he's older, i don't know how old you are, but would you still be attracted to the same girl you liked when you was 16? kevin grew, he married and had kids with someone i would assume was better than all these girls.

i adore this show because it tells us something about childhood and life, kevin started off being best friends with paul, they were inseperable, as the show nears it's end he's closer to his other friends, the twists and turns of life, changing schools, whatever... took their natural toll on the relationship, the same thing happened to me, with my two best friends, we'll be friends forever, like kevin and paul, but it's different...

and it's the same with winnie, at some point in his life, paul thought he grown old with her, and maybe he thought it about another girl, haven't we all?! kevin arnold like all of us is a complicated person, who changes his mind and what he wants, he didn't end up with winnie, although that seemed the perfect ending, but life isn't like that. but thats ok...

as for your question, older kevin didn't marry one of those girls, he married some beautiful girl who he met one night totally at random, her name is unimportant.
