Why'd Farina re-voice Stack episodes?
Such a huge disappointment! I never liked the Dennis Farina series, so was it a contractual thing? Dispute of some kind with Stack's estate?

As I recall, I had seen a few of the episodes of Dennis Farina series that featured Robert Stack's segments, shortly after the Best of "Robert Stack" DVD Sets came out. I had recently seen Robert Stack's segments and were familiar with them. Then I saw Dennis Farina's segments and I noticed the editing seemed tighter. I think they cut out some of the bloat in the stories, since the new show had less time to tell them... and with Dennis Farina, now hosting, his onscreen dialog, probably affected how the original reenactments could be told too...
There might also have been this belief that this was now Dennis Farina's show, and not Robert Stack's show. New Viewers might have been confused by two different hosts narrating the segments.
I don't really recall any of Dennis Farina's new story segments, but I think he was OK. He wasn't bad, but he did sound a little uninteresting. I did notice Robert Stack's segments were not as good with Dennis Farina narrating them.
Perhaps they could have done something like showing "Classic" segments or "From the Cold Case Files" segments or something, that could have still had Robert Stack's narrations. Like, Dennis Farina could have said: "From the Cold Case Files, here's Robert Stack..." They could have had those in the middle of the show, and would have had Dennis Farina at the beginning and end segments of his series.

That's because there are none. The re-edited segments may have given some viewers the impression that they were new, especially ones with revised updates. But the truth is that there hasn't been any legitimate new episodes of UM since 2002.

Thanks for setting me straight. It has been several years since I saw any of those, and forgot. I only remembered the re-editing part of the show.
I wish they would bring this show back in full and feature new stories. Would be a far better show that much of what is on today. Plus, crimes continue to happen, and it might be nice to catch some of those criminals... And what about those lost loved ones... If they want to throw in some Miracles, Treasures, Strange Legends, UFOs, and Ghosts... I won't complain either. ;)

I couldn't agree more. There is too much stuff on television that is being spoon-fed to audiences. But there is nothing we can do about it except vote with our remotes. In other words, either change the channel or turn off the television. If enough people follow suit, the ratings for the nonsensical programming will sink low enough to warrant cancellation.
And what about those lost loved ones... If they want to throw in some Miracles, Treasures, Strange Legends, UFOs, and Ghosts... I won't complain either. ;)
Neither will I. No matter what anyone thinks of those topics, they were essential parts of the show, especially the "lost loves." Although not every lost love case was eventually resolved, UM was still very effective in getting many of those cases solved, especially when other avenues had failed.
Oh god I really loathed those 'lost loves' segments. Was just schmaltzy pap for me...

There were new Farina segments. You are incorrect. They were stories that happened after Bob Stack's death. I can;t remember though as I have not watched in year's. Farina's terrible dopey sound made the stories out to sound very retarded. Stack was a great story teller with a great voice. The Silence of the Lambs guy would have been excellent.
shareYou are incorrect. Dennis Farina DID NOT present new segments. The only "new" ones he did were segments from Stacks version from NBC that were not seen in years and never or rarely shown on Lifetime. It amazes me people still don't understand this.
