Just Got The Volume Four DVD…

And I am loving it!

I certainly felt for Jon in Renewed Terror, (though it was one of those things that was also funny because of how real it almost seemed… though slightly exaggerated) because it does kind of feel like that once you subscribe to anything. I don’t remember the first thing I ever got like that myself, whether it was a magazine subscription or a credit card or a catalog purchase, but yeah whatever it was once that happened then they wanted to know if I wanted more stuff from them, and they kept sending me junk in the mail promoting things. AND something they didn't show in the episode, but once you sign up for anything, you name goes on some kind of magic list and then everyone wants to get your business. I now own caller ID and screen all my calls first because the telemarketers got so bad (AND they still are despite me not answering the phone ever… you’d think they’d get discouraged and give up after awhile, but nope, day in and day out sometimes I notice that the numbers are the same). And I get at least one catalog and one pre-approved credit card application in the mail everyday. (I like Sundays, no mail days heh… kinda makes me feel like Garfield sometimes in a way and dreading Mondays, though my dislike of it comes from knowing that the mail starts again for the week and we’re back to getting loads of junk mail)
Oh and yeah now every time I go into Media Play they want to know if I want to renew my membership, which was originally still good for two more years, but now I think I’m up to a valid membership ‘til 2010(?) because the last time I shopped there was this retailer who now looking back on things reminded me completely of the guy in the Renewed Terror episode and I gave in to renewal just to shut him up… Would you like to renew… *insert Jon Arbuckle scream*

It's a great set. Did anyone else notice in "The Name Game" that Wade is wearing Grimmy slippers? Jim Davis must have wanted to include a nod to fellow cartoonist Mike Peters. Really cool to see that. :)

I got it recently, and I see how this one has a lot of unsyndicated episodes! I just saw The Automated Animated Cartoon, It's a Wonderful Wade, and Trucking Odie.

In fact, the images throughout are what I noticed gags from the comic strips. (see the beginning menu (Odie running by Garfield on the chair), the language/subtitle screen (Odie with a banana tied with ears like a cow), and the episode selection pages(Garfield giving Jon a face-lift)).

The Tick: The night is young and we have umbrellas in our drinks.
