A Day or Month You Hate

Did you ever imagine getting rid of a day of the week or a month of the year you hated? Garfield hated Monday and asked the wishing well to get rid of Monday once. When he found out how terrible things were because of that, he had to bring Monday back.

Of course, getting rid of a month of the year is worse. Let's say you got rid of November, and found out there was no more Election Day or Thanksgiving. Without an election day, we would probably have the same president forever!

"Tsuppari is my former name."

Febuary I hate, only bad comes from it.

If you hate Jesus Christ then tell him to *beep* off by copying this into your signature!

Me too. 99% of all the really crappy stuff in my life has happened to me that month.

That cat's something I can't explain

The one month I can live without is January, that is IMO the most depressing month of them all

reply

There's something dreadfully beautiful about the month of January, IMO.

It's drab, cold, wet, gray...but it's also calm, and I appreciate that the holiday season (which has been going on since Back to School shopping in July) is over, it's the start of a new year and everything is sort of back to normal.

It's February I hate. February is like January in overtime. Everything annoying about January becomes worse in February.

The thing I never understood about Garfield hating Mondays is that he doesn't work, so every day should be the same to him. The reason that day is most often hated is because it's the day when people go back to work or school, but Garfield does neither. But I thought it was funny when they were showing the Monday horror sequence in the first volume. "From the people who brought you the horror of Friday and Wednesday, it's Monday! Coming soon to a calendar near you."

Let's get dangerous!

I hate both January and February. They are my least favorite months of the year.

I know. The closest I've ever come to an explanation of this was a comic strip, where Jon and Garfield sit at the table sighing about it being Monday. The dialogue went something like this:
Jon: Why are you depressed? You don't have to go to work.
Garfield: It's sympathy depression.

Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!

I thought the same thing. Garfield sympathetic? But then, Garfield probably cares more about Jon than what he wants to show, so he does feel sorry for him, when he's depressed. It could also mean, that he gets bad vibes about Mondays from him. Only that could be some kind of "sympathy depression", I guess.

I'm not a fan of winter months. So if I can eliminate any month, it would be between January - March. So what about losing Valentine's Day! And I don't blame Garfield for wanting to ban Monday; not exactly my favorite day of the week.

I hate August. While many are still enjoying summer vacations in August, it's back to school time where we live. My kids go back to school on August 7th. Temperatures are in the high 90's with 100% humidity and many of the schools are
not air conditioned. I hate putting my kids through that every year. I told my family that I was switching to homeschool and they freaked out, called me a selfish brat, my parents said seeing their grandkids homeschooled would put them in an early grave, and my sister tried to have me committed (really! simply because I wanted to switch to homeschool).

YOUR VOTE MATTERS! Please vote in every election. Thank you.

Your family sounds weird. What is so horrible to them about homeschooling? I myself was homeschooled for quite a few years. Also I wouldn't get rid of a month because it would either mean 90-100 degree weather in late September or freezing cold temperatures in April. A holiday though I would get rid of is Memorial Day. Seems pointless to me when you already have Veteran's Day. Then again I probably feel that way since I work in a grocery store where we don't close for any Holidays except Thanksgiving (though we close at 5pm), Christmas (Christmas Eve we close 5pm and don't open til the morning of the 26th), and New Years Eve (though we don't close til 9pm and open New Years Day at 8am making it hard for anyone working early that day to celebrate the night before).

There is no particular day I hate but the month I hate the most is January because it's always cold, dreary and depressing during that month.

reply

I don't particularly hate any day or month, but I do feel like March and April go by so fast...are they really necessary? Sometimes I'll look back on a year and think, did those months actually happen or were they just a figment of my imagination? They just speed by and, should anything happen in them, it doesn't stick to my memory. So either of those could go.

Mondays are my least favorite days and January is my least favorite month of the year.

Now that I live in Texas the day I hate the most is Monday and the month I hate the most is August (although my birthday is in August).
