song sung to a dying soldier?

A friend of mine was talking about a song he really likes, and he said it was in a TV show about Vietnam nurses, and that a women was singing it to a soldier. I have no idea if it was even on this show or what the song was called. If it was on China Beach, could anyone help me find a copy of the song or the episode? Thanks!

The only episode I can recall with a dying soldier being sung to was the second one (based on an episode guide). Laurette (Chloe Webb) helps out in the hospital when they are flooded with casualties. As she holds a dying soldier's hand she sings to him. I believe the song is the Mamas and the Papas' Dedicated to the One I Love. Hope this helps.

It was sung by Chloe Webb's character to a soldier who was dying of burn wounds; wish I could help more, it was a very moving scene. Think it was in a year 1 episode.

I believe I have this episode on tape. I'll see if I can find it and get an answer back to you on it. It is the same one that the other two have mentioned with Chloe's character singing to the soldier dying from burn wounds in the second episode. Let me see what I can do for you.

Yeah, it is definitely the scene that everyone else has mentioned. Laurette is helping out after an explosion. She doesn't know what to do so she just sits with a soldier as he is dying. He asks her to sing him a song and she sings "dedicated to the one I love". What's so emotional about it (if i recall correctly) is that he tells her about this singer he recently saw perform at the rec area. He pulls out a picture and it turns out to be Laurette. (he was blinded by the explosion so he didn't know it was her.) Now I could be making that last part up, but I'm pretty sure it happened. I am only 24 so I was pretty young when I saw it. This all occurred during the original pilot "movie" I think.

Yes, you're right. I remember that. Everytime I hear that song, I think of that scene.

That episode is on A & E this weekend and was on Friday. Yes she sings "Dedicated to You".
