Hi, I remember watching this show when I was a kid. There's some scenes that I remember seeing as a kid that I'm not sure were from this show, or something else. I always thought that this show had a scene where a soldier, who was a main character, stepped on a landmine or something else, and it showed him laying there screaming with his leg off and his severed leg laying on the ground away from him.

There was also a scene with a photographer following people around taking pictures of dead bodies. There was a guy tied to the ground with slits in his chest and maggots crawling in it and the photographer stopped and took a picture of him.

I think the scenes you're referring to are actually from 'Tour of Duty'.

The first scene is from ep 2.7 'I Wish It Would Rain' - a newbie soldier steps on a Bouncing Betty bomb, which cut him in half and he begged for his fellow soldier to shoot him.

The second scene is definitely from ep 3.17 'Vietnam Rag' - a dead US soldier was tied up in the open as a trap and the body had maggots on/in it. The squad had a photojournalist accompany them.

I hope that helps you out. I don't remember China Beach having many scenes from the field.
