My Idea for a Sequel

This would be a retelling of the story in a more modern day setting with the same actors from the first film. As such the characters would have not experienced the events of the first film (Think Return of the Living Dead II).

Jerry is now employed as a factory foreman. Today he is slightly balding with a short sleeve dress shirt and tie, still a likeable, nerdish character.

Rumors begin to circulate about a transfer employee (Buddy) from another factory location and all of the feats of strength and near criminality he's committed making him just shy of getting fired (he's union). One persistent fact in all of these stories is the fact that Buddy does not like to be touched.
Enter Buddy strolling across the factory floor past silent, awe struck, workers standing beside their machines. From a windowed office above the factory, Jerry and the rest of the management staff watch as their nightmare employee, the subject of all the rumors reports for his first day of work.
It's Jerry's job to on-board Buddy which he does showing him the place and introducing him to the cast of supporting characters (Buddy is silent and brooding this whole time). The tour continues uncomfortably and culminates is a fateful act of Jerry touching Buddy.
The rest of the movie unfolds like its predecessor with Buddy challenging Jerry to a fight after work, and Jerry employing various tactics to get Buddy fired. These would include call backs to the original movie such as hiring a larger worker to assault Buddy, planting contraband in his locker, and involving the factory security guard (Mitch Pileggi!) and company owner. Vincent, who is the IT guy at the factory does all he can to help Jerry avoid the inevitable fight.

Of course the meat of this would be all the comedy involved in trying to avoid the fight and/or get Buddy fired so this is just a bare synopsis.
This would be a fun way to get all the original actors back playing the characters we love, and introducing a new generation to this story.

I also have a great idea for a Saved by the Bell reunion movie, but that is for another day.
What do you guys think??

LOL Return Of the Living Dead 2, love the reference

With all the remakes and reboot, I would say no. HOWever, you said with the original cast and following like RotLD2, then yeah. Bring back Jerry/Buddy/Vincent and Duke, heck, even bring back Craig Mattey and keep it in the same lines as the original, maybe even funnier, then it could possibly work.

And call it Five O'Clock High or something LOL

"What are we supposed to use? Harsh language?"

No, it's a dumb idea and here's why:

Already been done and done better.

It's a great stand alone movie. No need for a sequel. Not even sure how much money a sequel would make because because very few people would see it. It's a great movie but not many people have seen it.
