Am I the only one who doesn't find Mel Brooks movies funny?

I grew up watching spoof movies of the 80s and 90s. I loved Airplane, I loved the Naked Gun trilogy, I even liked the Hot Shots and the earlier Scary Movie movies and I simply hate what has happened to the entire genre since. However for some reason most of Mel Brooks movies don't stake a cord in me, most of them just aren't funny. Blazing Saddles wasn't funny, Spaceballs wasn't funny, Young Frankenstein wasn't funny. His only movie I found moderately funny was Robin Hood men in Tights.

I'm sure lots of people don't think they're funny. I really enjoy most of them especially Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles and Men in Tights; I've seen those three countless times and still find them hilarious. People find different things funny. I really like Hot Shots and the Naked Gun films, but don't like the Scary Movies series (with the exception of the first one).

"Blazing Saddles wasn't funny."

I feel so sorry for you.

Millions of humorless Chinese don't find him funny either.

I find Mel Brooks movies to be hilarious. But I completely understand that there are those that don't. I can't imagine they would appeal to every one the same.

I enjoy them but totally get how you feel. Some types of humor just doesn't hit right. Everyone seems to love monty python and I think it's stupid as all hell.

I like Holy Grail but found Life of Brian fairly forgettable

You’re definitely one of the few

Generation issues most likely.

I was watching Monty Python THG with some younger friends and none of them laughed. Not even at the political peasants!!!
