Joke/scene copied from "Airplane - The Sequel"?

The scene where Skroob rejects a second try of beaming himself and it is revealed that the room where he wanted to be beamed to is actually next door, is very similar to a scene in Airplane 2 where it is revealed that the monitor William Shatner communicates through with his subordinate is actually just the door window to the subordinate's room.

I love Airplane II but reckon the gag in Spaceballs while a bit similar is not near the same. The Shatner one with the monitor was a straight up sight gag, based on the fact he was always there (and it's hilarious, one of the best gags in movie history). In spaceballs the gag is first about him coming in backwards and then revealing the room he teleported to is next door. That's more of a double gag.

The film 'Superhero movie' actually did that one from Airplane II, indentically (but probably more of a homage to it I'm guessing).

Lonestarr, I'm guessing you must be a die-hard Spaceballs fan for your nick and icon to be based on the movie. 👍

I'm on a different board, but I agree with you, that Shatner gag is arguably one of the best gags in history. Even the deadpan Leslie Nielsen (RIP) could not have pulled that off, Shatner's seriousness was classic.
