Good parody with two really funny scenes..

Scene-1, is the opening scene. The whole minute or something of ship's footage with looping music. That was good.

But the only scene that made me "LOL" in real was the scene where Spaceball's capture the princess's ship and Dark Helmet asks the soldier to hold on. When soldier replies (I think in German) I laughed really hard at that, esp. Dark Helmet looking at him afterwards.

But rest of the movie was just so-so. Barf was a awful character with only one good line ("I am my own best friend") and the duel between Dark Helmet and Lonestar was a bit funny.

Anyways, finally watched this. I see it referenced in so many places.

It's certainly watchable but I agree, a so-so effort overall. Not nearly as uproarious as it wants to be.

Try watching it 10 more times and then lete know what you think. Rick Moranis is pure gold in this movie.

I was quite familiar with Brooks' work before I saw this. I wasn't that impressed when it first came out. I thought some of it was cheesy instead of clever.

Then it came out on cable and I got to watch it a bunch of times and liked it more.

I hadn't seen it for probably 20 years when it came to cable again. I laughed my azz off and was surprised at how much I actually remembered.

My son and I quote the movie to each other now and again. Just this last Saturday he'd done all of his chores and I was in the middle of something. He asked what he should do now and I couldn't think of anything so I said, "Good. Well why don't we take a five minute break? Smoke if you got'em."

At that point my son acted like he was going to fall on his face. 

i was about 12 or 13 when i saw this on VHS and LOVED it. The one I felt this way about was Brooks' Dracula: Dead and Loving It! I saw it in a packed theater one Friday night and borderline HATED how CHEESY & CORNY it was....

Then I think it aired on HBO or something and after a 2nd then a 3rd look, I really grew to appreciate and LOVE Dracula! its HILARIOUS!!!!

Like 2nd poster said, sometimes it takes repeated viewings to appreciate a comedy.

I've never been able to make it through Dracula, D&LI or Robin Hood MIT.

I consider those and Life Stinks to be low parts in his career when he stopped being creative and started relying upon his history to make us laugh.
