This movie is easy to enjoy

The Running Man doesn't waste any time with drama. There is only a superficial love interest part of the film which is never given serious minutes to develop.

The setup to the main story is an action sequence followed by a prison breakout, which we get right at the beginning of the film. Many people make comments about this movie that it's just another weak Arnold action movie, it's cheesy and typical of the 1980's.

I don't find it typical at all. It's a film that starts off strong and never really has a dull moment. That doesn't mean every viewer has to like that, but the fast pace of the movie, the unique story, and Arnold in his prime make this so easy to rewatch any time. The only stuff hard to take in with this one, for me, are the forced Arnold one-liners that are really terrible.

It’s basically a cyberpunk Conan.

Nothing like the book though, which is a great action-thriller that should’ve been made by Spielberg in his prime.
