Why hasn't anybody realized
That this is the film the Matrix was based off from.
Hero: Neo to save human race
Pre plot: Atomic war between humans and robots
Plot: People are enslaveD to power robots
Conclusion: Neo frees humanity.

I've never actually seen the movie, but I've read reviews with major spoilers and I couldn't agree more. This film totally inspired THE MATRIX trilogy. Or THE MATRIX ripped it off and got away with it because ROBOT HOLOCAUST is unknown to most people these days.
I hope to see the MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE 3000 version soon. It's the only one I can find.

Well - the MST3K episode is terrible - and therefore fun.

That is where I got all of my MST3K episodes. Just download it. If you don't have broadband though, it will take forever. It takes forever with broadband.
Emule doesn't have any spyware like Kazaa does.
Sweet Jebus someone agrees. I've seen it a couple of times, and there several points that match, included the enslaved mentor figure and the love interest and the rogue robot counterpoints, not to mention the fact that Neo can, at least slightly, control robots.
shareI saw the MST3K version last year sometime after my last post here. I'm interested in seeing it again, along with others from the Empire Pictures collection.
It's bound to be another one of those lucky occasions. The big league picture succeeds because no one believes it could be a rip off. Folks at THE MATRIX forum denied it of course.

I totally agree! Matrix is a complete rip-off.
The MST3K version is damn funny. I found it on E-mule also.

wait a second...did you say you saw this movie a couple times?
as in you saw it twice on purpose and nobody paid you to?
You have a point. Neo and the gang were actually wandering through a miserable wasteland, but the robots made them think they were walking through Central Park :D

If my dream was true, then everything we know, everything we think we know, is a lie.
There are, of course, differences - I'm talking about the underlying plot. The fact that the principle characters have identical names and that the plots match pretty much closes the book on any questions of them being linked. Of course they are.
For example: Name *any* other film with a character named Neo.
I rest my case.

the only coincidence i see is the name of the character neo.
there are a lot movies/stories about a war between man and machines.
this movie seemed to me like it was ripping off terminator. and borrowed heavily from alien, star wars and beastmaster.

FuzzyWzhe, well done! I really mean it! I will now have to review this film and take notes this time. I believe that in the third Matrix film it was established that the chain of events between robots and humans and a "savior" arising had occurred a few times.
How do you like that?! This cheaply made little B-Movie from the eighties was the inspiration for one of the biggest grossing film trilogies in cinema history!!!
Live Long and Prosper!
You really have to stretch a loooong way to see the similarity between this god-awful movie and Matrix. There are 20+ movies that has the general theme of a robotic system (or a master computer system) controlling humans with a small group of humans fighting back. Some of the films are much closer to this movie's theme than Matrix. This is just one of the favorite general themes of SciFi authors and film makers. Its a combination of the age-old war conflict and the fear of the computer age.
shareThis movie reminded me of the Fallout trilogy also.
