I love Frances McDormand's performance in this movie, although admittedly she's a terrific actress in general. My favorite bit is when she first sees Nathan Jr.

"He's an angel! He's an angel straight from heaven! Now honey, I had all my kids the hard way. Tell me how you got this little angel. Did he fly straight down from heaven?"

I love the line about how the old man's store's balloon's shapes aren't funny...unless round is funny.

Holly Hunter tells Goodman & Forsythe that she's taking the baby into town for some shots and they'd better be gone by the time she gets back.

As she storms out of the room, William Forsythe asks innocently, "What's he need, his Dip-Tet?" Hilarious.

When Glen and H.I. are in the kitchen and Glen is bragging about how one of his kids knows his ABCs, he says "Hey watch this" and throws a handful of candy at the kid who ducks and he acts like it's something to be impressed by

There's so many excellent lines in this movie, but I think my favorite has to be when Holly Hunter says to Leonard, '"YOU GIVE ME THAT BABY, YOU WART HOG FROM HELL!!"

The whole convenience store robbery/chase sequence is absolutely legendary. Makes me laugh harder than most comedies these days do throughout their whole duration.

(glass shatters off screen)
Glen: Mind you don't cut yourself Mordecai!

Actually, everything Glen says.

The police investigation scene in Nathan Arizona's house.

Reporter: Mr. Arizona, it's been rumored that your child was abducted by UFOs, care to comment?
Nathan: Don't print that son... if his mama reads that... she's just gonna lose all hope.

The immortal:
GIVE ME THAT BABY YOU WARTHOG FROM HELL!

I could go on and on and on... this may very well be THE funniest movie ever made.

"well sometimes I get the menstrual cramps real hard"

The entire bank robbery, but particularly;
"Well which is it young feller? You want us to freeze or get down on da ground? If I'm frozen... I can't rightly drop... if I drop, I gonna be in motion."

Actually, everything Glen says.

I agree with that. The scene with Dot and Glen has to be my favorite. Glen's clothes are funny. His hair is funny. The way the kids run around destroying the trailer is funny. Glen throwing stuff at them is funny. "Mind you don't cut yourself, Mordecai" is a line my friends and I often quote.

"You need a beer, Glen?"

"Does the Pope wear a funny hat?"

"Yeah, Glen, I guess it is kinda funny."

Then there's the whole adoption conversation:

"Say that reminds me, how'd you get that kid so darn fast. Me and Dot went in to adopt on account of something went wrong with my semen, and they said we had to wait five years for a healthy white baby. I said, 'Healthy white baby? Five years? OK, what else you got?' They said they got two Koreans and a negro born with his heart on the outside. It's a crazy world."

I love the fact that Glen is so comfortable discussing that there's something wrong with his semen.

"See I really don't need another kid, but Dot says these here are getting too big to cuddle."

Then H.I. gets hit with jello while Dot berates him while she's shooting mustard on the kids sandwiches.

THEN there's Glen's speech about swinging.

"I'm talking about sex, boy! What the hell are you talking about? I'm talking about 'lamour'! I'm talking about me and Dot are swingers, as in 'to swing'. I'm talking about wife-swapping."

And of course it ends with Glen running into a cactus.

I must have watched this scene 100 times and it always cracks me up. The whole movie is hilarious.

Every person in the film that says "Okay then".

These quotes don't look good on paper, but when I hear the characters say them - I laugh real hard. It's how they emphasise the words.

"He's out there somewhere. ... Something L-E-A-D-S to him."

"Things have got to CHUAANGE"

"I'm OK, you're OK ... that there's what it is"

"Dr Glen has the solution to heal thyself"

"Let me know how those turn out [slaps thigh]"

"Gubmint sure takes a bite, don't she?"

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" [the prison inmate with a mop as HI is explaining how all the inmates pull together like a team]

Not a quote, but the words on Doc Schwarz's flipcharts as he earnestly counsels the inmates [try freeze-framing].

"Now y'all without sin, you can cast the first stone"

Now I ain't no student ... of ancient culture. Before I talk ... I should read a book.

I loved the part where Ed picks H.I up after the Convenience store chase and after he thanks her she cold cocks him...
Then, while they are arguing, he is directing her to where the Huggies were dropped.
Nathan Jr accepts me for what I am! And I think you better had, too! You know I'm okay, you're okay! That there's what it is! Turn left Honey.

Then when the FBI is talking the Nathan Arizona Sr.

FBI Agent: Sir, we discovered you were born Nathan Huffheins.
Nathan Arizona Sr.: Yeah, I changed my name. What of it?
FBI Agent: Can you give us an indication why?
Nathan Arizona Sr.: Would you shop at a store called Unpainted Huffheins?

I may not agree with your opinion, but I will defend to the death your right to disagree!
