Diane Keaton singing?

Is it really her? Stunning...

reply

IIRC, Keaton also performed "Seems Like Old Times" on the ANNIE HALL soundtrack.

She has an awesome voice. Nice to see her cameo, along with Jeff Daniels and Tony Roberts. They brought back some great Allen memories.

reply

Her voice is NOT awesome...it's very pedestrian. It's pleasant...but awesome is a bit of an overstatement.

reply

While I agree that her voice isn't "awesome" that doesn't mean that it wasn't awesome to the ears of others.

OK...and Sanjaya had millions of people vote for him. What's your point?

reply

I made my point.

reply

Well put.

Who really cares if Diane Keaton is singing? It if doesn't HURT your ears, then shut up, enjoy, or turn it off.

reply

The only thing pedestrian are your comments.

I think she sounds great. I think you're jealous!

Couldn't agree more. I know there's such a thing as being talented or untalented, but sometimes a voice like hers can really touch a person. I put the Annie Hall DVD in pretty often, and every time that scene with her singing "Seems Like Old Times" comes on, I just melt. She shows real interest in what she's singing. So yes, to me her voice is awesome.

Of course, it helps that my wife looks just like her, and she's been making me melt for more than 20 years.

You can say that again (or just copy and paste). Diane's voice is a breath of fresh air, vulnerable and sweet. I'd love to hear a complete album by her!

her voice is sensuous

Yup, she actually made her Broadway debut in 1968 - singing "Black Boys" in the original cast of "Hair."

reply

very funny picture, that.
i like her song in radio days and felt that allen was sort of allowing her the space to make up for the part she played in annie hall, where, though her cover isn't so bad, her character is highly embarassed. here, she is given full stage, without the backup laughter and coughing and talking - the camera lingers on her for the whole tune.

Keaton does a wonderful job in Shoot the Moon (1982) singing If I Fell... a poignant moment perfectly done.

I thought her performance in RD was beautiful. Sure, she might not have the best voice ever, but it was just right.

reply

Yeah. Her voice isn't perfect, but it's very nice. Most of all, she sings it so sincerely that it made me really feel what she was singing.

I think she was a tad bit better than Mia Farrow's singing. They were both better than any of us in this thread, to be sure.

reply

Her voice was amazing, much better than in annie hall-even though that was really good. Mia farrow's voice missed the notes in her song and was super ave, but i thought she did a great job with her jingle. Relax with... Something.
