Did the Predator respect Billy?

Do you guys think the Predator respected Billy for standing up to it in the open, and clearly issuing a challenge to it with a sword? Also, do you think the Predator attacked him with wrist claws and not ranger weapons, to be fair and give him a chance? I would think other Predators would find it dishonorable if it used a ranged weapon against a human with only a sword.

I doubt it. At the end of the day Billy was wielding a weapon so he was a threat and therefore ‘sport’ to the Predator.

reply

Yes. After he kills Billy offscreen, the next time we see him he is ripping out his spine and head. He then cleans the skull as a trophy in a show of respect to Billy.

The only thing was Billy giving up. He wasn't even an adversary because he didn't do anything. Got spooked too easily, didn't have the mental strength to get past that and put up a fight. In the end, he just stood there like a rabbit in headlights.

Now Mac, I'd be taking his skull for a prize, Jesse Ventura, even Apollo Creeds. But not Billy the pussy. He was a scared, whiny little b1thc the whole time.

i think so..
wasn't it his skull he cleaned up for a trophy?

Billy was aiight

I doubt he respected Billy any more than he respected any of the other guys, besides Dutch. The Predator figured out early on that Dutch was the leader and the strongest, therefore the best trophy. While he was impressed with the other 6 guys, Dutch was the big buck for him, and he was only going to get his shot at him by killing the other guys. While he may have been impressed by Billy's challenge, and did oblige him by using his wrist claws, but ultimatley he did defeat Billy rather quickly. He probably was also impressed by Dillion who continued to fight, even after losing a limb.

We do see the Predator disembowel Billy and clean off his skull, but we also see him put it in a bag with several other skulls. One of which had a large burn mark on the top, which we can probably assume was Mac. He also hung up Hawkins body, and snuck back into their camp to steal Blaine's body and carry it back.

We would know if we could have seen the fight between Billy and the Predator.

That was one of the coolest scenes and good moments from "Predators" when the Yakuza guy with the katana stood up to the Predator as challenge. The Predator uncloaked itself and extended its blades, and we got to see the entire fight! Thats was honor and respect for a straight fight.

But with Billy...who knows? Predator could have stayed cloaked and just charged him to run him through. We only hear a scream. Wish we got to see the fight

That's probably one of the biggest or really only flaws of the film.

I REALLY wanted to see that fight.

Would have been awesome. But maybe had they included it, it may have disappointed the viewers due to the choreography (but then again, the 80s was a lot better with its fight choreography than Western films in the 90s and aughts), but it's a complete toss-up how the fight would have been portrayed had it stayed.

Definitely something I would have loved to have seen.

Nah, a ‘fight’ would have revealed too much of the Predator too soon. Maybe if you just saw it stomping towards him while cloaked, coming from behind, out of focus, then Billy turns to face it and we cut away to the scream.

I kinda like how it’s left to the imagination.

We see the Pred vision from above so presumably Billy got lasered from the trees.

Yes, he definitely respected Billy for standing up against him with a knife. Thats why he faced Billy with his own blade instead of just using his shoulder cannon. How do i know he didnt use his cannon? -You could hear Billy scream in agony.
