One of the greatest performances of the 80s. Lassefar is a man of few words yet von Sydow expresses so much with gestures and body language. A deeply moving performance which unfairly lost the oscar to Dustin Hoffman's one-note show-boating.

Agree! Max Von Sydow performance as Lasse Karlsson is among the very best I've ever seen! it's in the same league with the finest performances from the most recognized actors of the world (Mastroianni, Brando, Fernando Rey, etc.)

Wonderful Max!
