Planned sequel

27 years after this movie a sequel is now being planned. As you may know the first movie is based on part one of a four-part novel by Martin Andersen Nexø. It was written in 1906-10 and is a Scandinavian Classic read in school. The sequel is aparantly going to cover parts two and three. The director is supposed to be Per Fly, director of Bænken, Arven and Drabet. Per Fly said in an interview that his hole career so far had only been preparations for making this movie that he always wanted to make.

Pelle the Conqueror was probably the greatest Danish movie ever made at least in turns of international recognition winning both the palme d'or and an oscar for best non-American movie.

Personaly I'm looking very much forward to the sequel and I think that the director is an excellent choice considering the fact that Bille August doesnt have the guts to make it, but also considering the the fact that it deals with themes more closely related to Per Fly. However I fear it can only fail living up to the enormous expectations.

First, however it needs to gather sufficient funding. Per Fly has said they will only make it if becomes a large scale production.
