The world meets nobody half way...except Kenny Loggins

I love Hawk's mantra, but anyone ever get a kick out of the fact that he's telling his kid (and himself) the entire movie that if you want something you have to do it for yourself. But the theme song playing throughout the movie is "Meet Me Halfway", lol.

I can't really blame Loggins. I have to hold the writers and directors of the movie accountable for this one. If a songwriter comes to you with these lyrics after you already wrote your movie, it's up to you to tell him, "Um Kenny, the matra of the movie is that you have to help yourself." It's the movie's fault more than Loggins.

As much as I love when Stallone says it, it's not even true. He's telling his kid he has to do it all by himself, but is there helping his kid the whole time, lol.

Wait, what do you mean almost plausible? I totally thought I could do that kinda stuff when I was a kid.

It never shows him getting on the plane, just coming out with the luggage.

I totally thought stuff like this was possible when I was a kid. The 80s movies made you think you were a superhero. I just watched this recently and loved it. I sat in front of my fire place with a better (later a bottle of wine), got hammered, and watched this and Conan.

he's takes his strawberry bubblegum and just sticks it over the lens like a boss.

Haha! Oh Christ, D.A.R.Y.L, I haven't seen that in years. I loved that movie. It was awesome. I loved stuff like that. I loved 80s movies. We liked our entertainment much more idealistic back then and I miss that. That's not to say I don't like some movies now, but those back then had heart. A certain type of heart too.

You mean O'Brien or The Barbarian? I've never really got hammered watching a movie - does it improve the experience?

I loved O'Brien, but I meant The Barbarian. It was a man movie night that night. I had a few 2 out of the last 3 Fridays. One week it was Trespass, a few later it was Conan and Over the Top. I've never actually seen a Conan movie all the way through and wanted to check it out since they're making a new one.

I think the song is referring to meeting people you care about halfway...not your goals, which the film makes clear you have to go out and get for yourself.

PS I used Kenny Loggins song to make this short film about the space shuttle Discovery. Hope you like it!

I loved that about this film. Hawk went all the way to pick what was left on his family, and made that bet at the competition to win and start over. His son makes all the way to Las Vegas to be with him. Even after they had separated his wife met him half way so that he could be the one to finish raising their son. It has some flaws, but it is a charming, entertaining film nonetheless.
