all practicalities were in order right up to when the refs were putting the strap on Bull and Lincoln in the final match, and when Bull suckered punched Lincoln, resulting in a nose bleed, Bull Hurley wouldve been instantaneously disqualified.......

You are probably right as long as this was a nationally sanctioned event.

However, with guys drinking motor oil and stuff, I am not sure if this was more of a cult championship for truckers or the actual USAF National Tournament...If the former, than maybe they were pretty relaxed about rules.
