I couldn't help but think that if Claudia had behaved with her client the way she did in the courtroom, she would not have had a problem. This character was totally unbelievable. The scene of her first court appearance defies any kind of credulity. Also flashing is the act of a high class call girl? Really? Given the set of circumstances as presented of the crime, why would she even have been in the situation she was in? The whole movie was unsettling and not the tour de force that it may have appeared 22 years ago. Richard Dreyfuss, Maureen Stapleton, Karl Malden, Eli Wallach all excellent. Movie very mediocre. I think BS would have been in late 40's at the time this movie was made. Character was probably supposed to have been about 33. Another big inconsistency . When Barbara Streisand IRL was in high school, pot was not a problem even in NYC schools.

I thought Claudia's ripping down the flag was laughable, and belonged in a comedy, not this.
