Watch it and find out how good it is.

Has its flaws, aged pretty badly if you ask me, still worth it just for the bar scene, Bill Paxton killing it as per, interesting slant on the vampire genre, worth a watch 7/10

It's personally my favorite vampire movie, though I agree with some of the critiques made by previous posters.

I think Let The Right One In is a better crafted and more interesting film, but the way I think of vampires is how they're portrayed in Near Dark. Violent, Bloodthirsty psychopaths who are not inherently evil, but embrace their own malicious nature.

reply

Near Dark, Lost Boys and Fright Night. The great vampire trifecta.

reply

It aged much worse than THE LOST BOYS for sure. I find I like it less with each viewing. Bill Paxton is the saving grace but most scenes without his character drag with boring cinematography and bad acting

reply

I would say the opposite is true Near Dark has aged much better than The Lost Boys...Schumacher just can't hold a candle to Bigelow in atmosphere, characterization or action staging IMO.

Best vampire movie ever made.

It has style and is creepy. The vampires, unlike in today's vampire movies, are actually evil.
