Just found this 20th anniversary DVD at my local record swap. I couldn't believe it. 5.99 and I had only seen it one time. I am huge into Goonies, Explorers, Gremlins, The Burbs, Fright Night, Lost Boys and couldn't believe Monster Squad had slipped by me for so long. The type of movie that of course gets better with every watch.

The music in the very beginning sort of reminds me of Are You Afraid of the Dark as well..

Anyone know of any other movies or shows like this?

I'm sure there aren't too many more. Came across a movie called Shadow Zone which appears to be a decent made for TV movie. Watched some of Joe Dante's episodes of Eerie Indiana and those weren't bad. Dante's Matinee is on the list for me as well.

This is such great classic horror film! I have the super rare 20th Anniversary Blu Ray DVD -- now out of print.It has excellent bonus features including commentary and deleted scenes. My copies of this blu ray are brand new and still sealed in plastic.
