Gotta feel bad for Gill-man

For starters, he is hardly in the movie and to top it all off, he has the least spectacular death in the movie. Dracula gets staked by Van Helsing and sucked into the vortex, the Creature gets sucked into the vortex, the Wolf Man goes on quite the spree before being killed with a silver bullet, the Mummy gets unwrapped and what does Gill-man get, a shotgun blast. He's gotta feel cheated.

Yeah but he stole the kid's twinkie. The bastard had it comeing!

You got a point there, lol

yeah he did, i had forgot about the twikie scene

he had it coming when fat kid unloaded on him

the way I saw it, was as a joke to the original of how easily the creature could have been killed by a gun.

Like, I don't know if that was their point, but to me it was made lame on purpose. Like saying "Creature of the Black Lagoon is scary, but he is easily killed"

I mean, he is just an animal technically, a bullet would take him out.
that's how I saw it anyways...

One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

Except the Gill-man WAS shot by guns in the original film, and even completely lit on fire. If you count the sequel as being canon, he survived being shot many times at close range, which suggests that he has some form of regeneration, since no normal animal would heal easily from that.

Overall, he shouldn't have been killed so easily by the shotgun. Instead, what would've been better, is if they shot him, thinking he was killed, only for him to get back up while Horace runs away in terror at first, with the other two kids running back into the store. At this point, the creature begins to go after the other two kids, and Horace looks back, realizing they need his help, and seeing the cop car, decides to get in and drive it into the Gill-man, ramming him into the store.

Would've been a lot better if you ask me. Gives Gill-man more screen-time, wouldn't have been too much extra filming, and it wouldn't have been as lame.

not true he was shot many times, had arrows shot into him and set on fire but always brushed it off.. they shoulda pushed him into a sushi restaurant, that's how he shoulda been killed.

I think that I would have added a brief confrontation between the Frankenstein monster and the Gillman. He's established early on as the children's protector, but then he gets trapped under falling rubble before he gets the opportunity to defend them. I think that I would have treated the Gillman as Dracula's first line of defense. He confronts the kids and Frankie launches him into the water (a reversal of the Gillman throwing the monster's coffin out of the water).

It would have given the Gillman a little more screen time and it would have given the monster a chance to play protector before getting taken out of action.

it's still a cool scene

I'm just glad the Gill-man was in the movie at all. He usually gets left out of these things. He's the Aqua Man of the universal Monsters.

With great power comes great responsibility.
