What town did this take place in?

I'm sorry if this was already asked. I'm writing a blog post and I'd like to know what town this takes place in (if it's mentioned). I can't find any mention of it online and short of watching the movie again (which I may have to do) I can't figure it out. I own the movie and it wouldn't be a big deal but just curious if anyone knows. Thanks!

It doesn't mention a town as far as I know either. I think the idea was that it could be anywhere in the country, except Hawaii or Alaska obviously. Wherever it was, it was fall though.

I thought it was in Louisiana since there was an old southern-style mansion and swamps in the areas.

Whatever town Back to the Future took place in. Sure looks like the same backlot to me.

But...

No, I don't think the name of the town is ever mentioned. It's something that's taught in screenwriting to avoid naming the location in which stories take place unless, a) it has direct bearing on the story, or b) the town itself has some kind of 'identity' that serves to almost make it a character in the story. The town in the case of the Monster Squad really has neither, so the name of the town doesn't matter.

It was shot in the "town square" lot at Burbank/Warner Brothers Studios...same town square the "Dukes of Hazzard" series was shot as well as countless movies and television shows going way back. I also believe your correct and that it was never established in the film.
