Michael Caine Saves This Movie

I watched this for the first time last night. In defiance of conventional wisdom, I have to say I actually liked it better than Jaws 3. I mean, yeah, it's still terrible, but I found the acting to be generally better - especially from Mr. Michael Caine as Hoagie the pilot. Hoagie was a great character. I loved all of his scenes, and his tendency to ramble on about this or that to anyone who'll listen - and sometimes those who won't! He had excellent chemistry with Lorraine Gary's Ellen, too, even if their romance literally comes out of nowhere.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

While Caine certainly does well with the poorly written material, not even an impeccable performance from Daniel Day-Lewis could "save" this crapfest.

Exactly. Not the late Larry Olivier, Richard Burton, or a resurrected Robert Shaw could overcome the inane script...
