Netflix version has original theatrical ending.

The shark spews blood but doesn't explode. The film also fades to black as it shows the underwater shot of the shark sinking(not from Jaws). I've also got to say the effects of the shark actually look decent as it's contorting and sinking below the surface. So it seems they edited it newly for Netflix? I believe this ending is available as an extra on the Blu-ray. That original home video ending was downright embarrassing.

Glad they shot at least two endings. Obviously the exploding shark should never have been filmed in the first place, but it's good that Netflix offers the better ending...

That exploding shark ending was not only stupid but poorly executed too.

I think we've got another shark problem. 

Nope. It's not the original. The original has a hilarious shot of the shark pretty much standing straight up vertical with the boom slowly approaching it. Stupid as hell. I just watched the Netflix version and it didn't have that. I was a little bummed. But at LEAST they didn't use that stupid one where the shark just explodes for no reason and you can't tell what happened. I'm not sure how many cuts that makes now for the ending of this film. What a mess.

You people speak of different endings of the shark's ridiculous death in prior versions of Jaws: The Revenge (and I'm just now revisiting it on Netflix). As far as I can recall, the shark has always stood on its tail and roared before exploding with no reason. However, one of the things I distictly remember from seeing the film on the screen in "87 that I'm fairly certain was cut for home video release was an ending in which Mario van Peebles survives his very hopeless shark attack: that didn't originally appear in '87.

Having just now completed the Netflix version of Jaws: The Revenge, I can truthfully state that--insofar as the shark's death is concerned, this is the best version of it I've ever seen.it excludes the laughable explosion which made no sense. Still, this is something like putting lipstick on a pig: the film is and always has been pure swill.

I agree. That stupid explosion thing was a HUGE step down. It spared us the terrible effects work, but it made absolutely no sense, which is worse. This cut is basically the original cut with the most offending effects shots removed. That's what they should have done in the first place. It's still ridiculous, but oh well. All those different endings (I think) are on youtube. Fun to watch.

Also, Jake isn't shown to miraculously survive, though he is mentioned as being alive in the final scene.

loved this ending. pretty good movie

At least they went with the slightly better ending. Movie still sucks no matter what, but that's something at least.

Here in the UK all vhs/dvd/blu ray versions only have Jake pop up alive after the shark explodes but lTV4 sometimes show the ending where the shark.impales itsself and l.believe Jake stays dead. What a wasted opportunity.
