Anybody felt bad for Wendy?
I always felt bad for Wendy when Jack blew her off at the club. She was practically putting it out for him and he left her hanging. In real life I think he would’ve not done that.
shareYeah I’ve always felt a little like that too but I don’t think Jack was interested in her at all. Plus I don’t think she did herself any favours telling Jack that she’d pretty much slept with everyone in the store! She basically labelled herself as a total slag. Jack could do a lot better and he knew it.

If it were real life, and Martin Short were a bumbling, neurotic grocery store employee instead of a rich and famous actor, someone who looked like Wendy would be out of his league (unless she had very unusual taste in men).
Ironically, Wendy Schaal has aged a lot better than Meg Ryan has, despite being ~7 years older. That's because she didn't let plastic surgeons turn her into a sideshow freak. And if you compare them at the same age, the difference is even more drastic. For example:

Neither Wendy Schaal nor Meg Ryan looked good. The 1980s had the worst women's hair styles of any decade since the 1790s, and the ridiculous shoulder pads made it even worse. Meg Ryan is probably the most unattractive woman presented as attractive in the history of cinema. Her position as a "sex symbol" is inexplicable.

Utterly irrelevant, given that hair styles and clothing are extremely temporary, to the point that both can be changed in a matter of minutes.

Agreed.
I miss the chicks of the 80s because they looked natural, but not unobtainable. There was a down-to-Earth appeal about them, coupled with camera-hugging beauty that many of today's actresses lack.
