is this a mistake
During the beginning of the movie Patrick's mom tells Patrick that Andrew wont be coming until the following day yet she shows up to the school that same day looking for Andrew

and then it actualy is correct.
It was not a mistake. That conversation took place the night before Andrew showed up in town but after he had fled the hitmen. Infact Andrew rings up in the early hours of the morning when Patrick is getting ready to go to school. That is when he arranges to meet Patrick's mother at the school.
