This is such a great movie! It's a shame it's underapprecited. Great , unique storyline , excellent soundtrack , interesting characters , etc. And it's great to see John Cryer in his element here with this charcter.
*SPOILER*
I love how they're able to be together in the end.
Great movie!

I also love this movie. I remember going to see it at the theater when it was released. All the characters are great. The music is great too. This is my second favorite Jon Cryer movie (Number 1 is Pretty in Pink of course!).
*SPOILER*
He deserved to get the girl in this film after he was robbed in Pretty in Pink.
Hi. I know , I was crushed he didn't get Andy in "Pretty In Pink." I think there's supposed to be a new DVD of "Pretty In Pink" with commentary regarding why he didn't end up with Andy. Something about how her character wouldn't feel that way about him , that she only thought of him as a friend , etc. Ducky would never have done to her what Blaine did , I just don't understand why she didn't pick Ducky. Also , I *think* in the commentary they said that they tested it with two different endings and the audience like the ending where Blaine gets Andy. I have no idea why the audience wouldn't like to see Andy and Ducky together.
I love the music in this film , esp. Pretty Poison's "Catch Me I'm Falling" , they do not make films like this anymore. It was funny , romantic and innocent.

I bought the new version of Pretty in Pink and watched it just last night. First of all the box clearly says that it contains the lost ending, which it does not. They show some shots from the scene and Molly talks about how she didn't find Jon Cryer attractive (she must be nuts!) and how the original ending just did not work. I do not know what kind of weirdo’s they had at the screening, but they couldn't have been more wrong. I have decided from now on when I watch the movie I will stop at the part where Andy and Duckie embrace before they ruined it.
I agree, movies like this are not made anymore. Teen movies today think that gratuitous sex and crude humor are necessary ingredients.
I think it's great BECAUSE it's underappreciated. If it was a blockbuster, it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable (if that makes any sense). It's like a secret that only a few people are privy to.
I'm not normally a big fan of the teen genre, but this movie has it all: laughs, suspense, a strong script and cast, and a soundtrack featuring some of the finest forgotten music of the mid-'80s. I'll take a heaping dose of Pretty Poison, please!
