Lin Shaye's character Carol Miller was in the closet hiding when the alien went inside the senator...why didn't she say something afterwards? She seemed like she was still on the Senator's bandwagon even though she probably saw some crazy stuff going down. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on with her....

I don't know if she could see that much detail thru those slits in the door. So she likely could only see the lower parts of the two men and wouldn't have seen the ameoba blob creature slithering out of his mouth up above.
She just knew that the gunman had been stopped before he could kill the Senator, not really how or why.
Imagine her hearing and seeing the senator being "choked"? She would likely have turned away and kept quiet and was in shock and relieved when the police arrived and found the senator alive and well.
