What was that stuff lloyd gives tom in the hospital and after that we see llyod on the floor so did he die or just go back to space
shareTom Beck becomes Lloyd's new human host. Beck was flatlined when Lloyd entered him, saving his life. The perfect ending because now that Lloyd/Beck are one, Lloyd now has a wife and daughter again, and he didn't have to lose another partner. So he's on Earth, in Tom, and with a family again. Very touching, no?

First the alien kills Tom and then he leaves Robert Stone's body and enters Tom Beck's body. So the real Beck really is dead.
I always interpreted that scene that Lloyd was transferring his life energy to Beck, saving him. And that the little girl recognizes that her daddy has "something more" -- Lloyd living on through her daddy. I always thought that made more sense than he's an energy being (how would the slug alien take possession of one of those?).
