What makes this movie so good?

I saw this movie when I was a kid and loved it and I am a female no less. I hadn't seen it in probably decades and I got it from netflix wondering if it would stand the test of time and it did. It's such a simple premise but it was so well-done. It had so many things people enjoy watching, fast cars, male bonding, a mystery element to it. It was simple and enjoyable. I wished they made movies like this today. I also think the performances were fantastic, especially the guys possessed by the aliens. They did a great job and none of them are very famous which is the part I enjoyed the most. I am sick of seeing the same faces in every movie.

What especially makes this movie so good is the script. Lots of clever writing and memorable dialogue.

The editing and the pace are really good. Plus, everyone playing the bad guy alien really nailed it.

"You're forgetting one thing- I just started using laser cats again!"

The pacing is spot on as mentioned. Both of the leads fit their roles well. The aliens liking fast cars, rock roll, guns, bank loot, food, sex,etc. like criminal teens is kinda funny and appeals to the youthful vandal in all of us. Plenty of actions and gunplay. Good character actors. Well done for what I guess was a small budget. Look now, Cult Classic.

Now go watch Stone Cold.
