I am baffled by the box

The only reason I bring it up is because I have seen posts where people are saying that it is way to easy to solve. Well I think it is the exact opposite, I think if you make a mistake, like Frank, you get impaled by chains and the Cenobites come to take you to hell to be tormented for all eternity. The other way is when Kristy solves which opens doorways and still brings the Cenobites, who may want to turn her into one having proved herself by solving the puzzle box. I think Frank's way is incorrect, because he did not solve the box correctly. The only anomaly is Elliot Spencer, who became Pinhead, he did not solve the box properly, however he became a Cenobite, so Leviathan must have the ability to pick and choose who becomes a Cenobite and who does not. It seems like the rules of the box are fluid with who becomes a Cenobite and who does not.

I don't think the chains flying out of the box are an indication of a mistake made. Although Kirsty didn't get hooked immediately upon solving the box, if she hadn't convinced them to let her lead them to Frank, she would have been hooked too eventually. Maybe Hell is more lenient with people who aren't expressly seeking the pleasures the box has to offer. Kirsty and Tiffany didn't know what the box was when they solved it, so nothing violent happened to them. Frank and Elliot were told(in vague terms) what the box was for and they solved it with their desperate lust, and they got chains.

If you watch all the movies the scenes of solving the box are very inconsistent. Some characters will try and try without figuring it out, and others will pretty much just touch the box and it solves itself.

My interpretation is that it is more than just a fancy Rubik's Cube. You have to be in the right state of mind and focus to actual get the solution. Accidentally putting it in the right orientation is not enough.
