Not a bad film at all, but it is very dated and is very much a product of the '80s, most prominently in the sex scenes. The flashbacks with the dead lover are borderline unbearable to watch— like a really bad '80s soft porn. The film does have a dark and foreboding feel overall, great effects, and decent acting, but the overdramatic love scenes are just... distracting,

It goes into Julia's character and thinking. In the book, Julia only stayed married to Larry (Rory in the book) because of money. She never cared about Larry. Larry was a means to the end.
As you can tell by the movie. Frank was great at sex. And that's what Julia remembers of Frank. She wanted sex with him again. But after her wedding. Frank disappeared.
Did Frank only make her choose him, over Larry, because he was good at sex? She never loved Larry at all? I thought it was because Frank was good at sex, and Larry wasn't, that she preferred Frank.
