Order of the Gash
Finally got around to listening to the original novella the Hellbound Heart. First off, if you haven't I highly recommend either getting a copy of the book, or if you have become lazy in your decadence like myself pulling the audio book from audibles or other sources.
First I was pleasantly surprised at how well the town of the book and movie matched, but I suppose that shouldn't be too much of a surprise since Clive Barker both wrote and directed. One thing in particular that I noticed was the dropping of the Cenobite's group "The Order of the Gash" a very meaty sounding bunch eh?
This name makes particular sense when you examine the definition of cenobite which has it's roots long before this movie or Clive ever existed. (A cenobite is a member of monastic order/community) So in literal terms the Cenobite's are monks that adhere to the Gash, which can be surmised to mean physical suffering.
Which brings me to a question, (yes I know after 3 whole paragraphs of pigs air lol!) for those who are familiar with the film series was there ever any mentions of the Order of the Gash, either directly in dialogue, or in some sort of imagery? Just curious as I've only ever seen Hellraiser 1 -3 and don't remember any references in those.
