Weird seeing him fat and out of shape in this and so skinny and ripped up in Adventures in Babysitting. Quite a drastic physical transformation for 2 films released the same year.

He was normally fit and trim and he purposefully gained 40-50 lbs for FMJ. There was a long delay because R Lee Emery was in a bad auto wreck during production, so D'O had to keep the weight on for many months more than he intended. Then when they were done he just lost it all. Just like De Niro in Raging Bull.
shareIt would be interesting to know how he and other actors do get rid of inconvenient weight so quickly. I read that Ralph Fiennes put on weight to play corrupt camp commandant Amon Goeth in Schindler's List and then struggled to lose it for his next film role in Quiz Show. According to him, he was not entirely successful and was still a little heavier than he wanted to be when he made the second film.
